Built for William Stow{stock brokerage firm} c.1902 Italian Renaissance. Designed by John Russel Pope. Later alterations by Horace Trumbauer and landscaping by Olmsted for Henry Carnegie Phipps, father of Ogden Phipps, who lived next door. Lewis & Valentine supplied plantings.

Demolished in 1972 following the death of Gladys Mills Phipps.

  • It's a shame to see it been broke up.I was born and raised there in the gate house. .I drive through the estate every once in a while.It still holds a lot of good memories. For us kids that were brought up on those it was our own private "never land".
