This river access point on the west bank of the Willamette River is named for a loosely-defined community founded by Irish settlers, James Martin and brothers Robert and Tom Herron, around 1860. It was once a steamboat landing from which local farmers shipped crops, mostly wheat, downriver to Portland. Today boaters must cross a wide gravel bar to reach the water. The park is a primitive recreation site, used mostly by fishermen and picnickers.
