Marble Mountain

USA / California / Greenview /
 mountain, summit

Composed of white marble, this peak and ridge are the centerpiece of the Marble Mountain Wilderness. As with Oregon Caves and Shasta Caverns, the marble here is subject to dissolution by snowmelt and rainwater, forming funnel-holes and channels in the rock. The area has a number of unmarked caves hidden among the cliffs and slopes. These are, of course, dangerous for any but experience spelunkers to enter.
