Shri Chitrapur Math is the beacon of spirituality to the Chitrapur Saraswat Samaj which has spread all over the globe today. Lord Bhavanishankar is the Aradhya Daivat (presiding Deity) of the Math. Present Mathadipati is H.H.Sadyojat Shankarashram Swamiji. Main deity is Lord Bhavanishankar.Math was established here in 1757 A.D. Holy Samadhis of 6 previous Swamijis are located here.Main devotees comprises of Chitrapur Saraswat community, though the Math is open to all and attracts devotees from different castes and creeds all over the world.Ter-centenary celebrations of "Guruparampara" will be celebrated here in the year 2008.
