The site served as part of the Hercules Powder Works in the early 1900s, at which time buildings and munitions bunkers were located on site.
Hercules Powder, a brand of blasting powder made by the California Powder Works (later the Hercules Powder Company).
All the structures associated with this facility have been removed and a residential development named "Hill Town" has been proposed for use of this site.
