mysterious, haunted place, interesting place, invisible, woods (forest)
Dartmoor woodland overlooking Holne Chase. The area of the woodland by the river bank is open access, the rest is currently private. The area of the woodland close to Leigh tor consists of mostly birches and has mystical associations. In recent history, a story goes that during WW2 an RAF Pilot had crashed into Leigh tor after being pursued by an "unconventional" enemy aircraft. After crashing a local farmer's son came to help but he was too late, that very night sounds and lights were heard from the woods and unusual atmospheric phenomenon was reported.
