Chinese Juniper Tree at Bomunsa
This Chinese Juniper tree which grows in the crevice of the big rock in front of the Stone chamber of Bomunsa is 2.1 meters in diameter at the base, and is 3.2 meters in diameter at the point 1.2 meters up from the base. The trunk is forked at the point of 1.7 meters up to the east, and at the point of 1.5 meters to the west.
The tree looks Iike a dragon belching fire, producing eccentric impression. The tree is said to have almost died during the Korean War (I950~1953) and to have revived three after the war.
