Western junction between the former Western Pacific and Southern Pacific main lines. The two railroads entered into a directional running agreement so all eastbound trains traveled on the WP and all westbound trains on the SP. This gave both railroads a common double track main line.

Today the Union Pacific has united both predecessor railroads.
