Boise, Idaho

USA / Idaho / Boise City /
city, capital city of state/province/region, county seat

Boise is the capital of the U.S. state of Idaho, as well as the county seat of Ada County. The population was 205,671 at the 2010 census, making it the most populous city in the state.

It's name is of indeterminate origin, although probably comes from a name used by early settlers and "mountain men." Fort Boise was first built here by the Hudson Bay Company in the 1830s, during the period that the Oregon County was an Anglo-American condominium. Native American raids prompted the US Army to rebuilt the fort in 1863 along the Oregon Trail near the quickly growing Boise City. The city was incorporated in 1864 and became territorial capital in 1865. Boise remained the capital upon statehood in 1890.

  • Boise is a great place to live, I can't count how many people I know that left and came back because they couldn't find a community that offered all that Boise does, not to small, not to big!
  • There is no Z in Boise!
  • The capital of the picturesque state itself is in a beautiful location.
