Oakham is the County town of Rutland. Rich in history and character, Oakham is now a bustling market town situated about 100 miles North of London, 20 miles from Leicester and Peterborough, and less than an hour's drive from Nottingham. As the administrative centre for Rutland, many of the county's services are centred around this lively market town. Oakham market takes place every Wednesday and Saturday in the Market Place. There is a wide variety of stalls selling fruit & veg, fish and cheeses, bread, clothes, household goods and plants.
