This was originally a Storm/Contingency Pond (now referred to as Pond 2) south of the Pregnant Pond that would temporarily store water during upset conditions and/or after significant storm events, then stored water was removed to the process circuit as make-up water. However, since the construction of Storm Event Pond 3, Pond 2 became a dedicated intermediate solution pond.
