Signing Pavillion (Kaesong)

Korea (North) / Hwanghaebukto / Kaesong

The Armistice was signed here. There is also a museum dedicated to 'provocations' against North Korea. The actual axe used in the "Tree Cutting Incident" is located here, complete with bloodstains.

Comments

  • CAN ONE VISIT THIS "MUSEUM" ?
  • yes, though one needs to be part of an organised tour. It is approximately the size of a village school, consisting mostly of press snippets about the tree-cutting incident.
  • I believe this is also referred to as the "Peace Museum", and the former village of Panmunjeom was located across the road on the south side.
