Circa 1840, Known as a stop on The Underground Railroad.

The home was built as a wedding gift for the second wife of James Batterton. They never lived in the home but leased the property to a relative of the new Mrs. Batterton. The relative was a minister and known abolitionist. The home contains secret hiding places where slaves would hide as need be during the track on the secret way to freedom.

The house was also used as The Millersburg Male and Female Collegiate Institute. The male branch of this school become Ketucky Weselyn College. The female portion was known as Millersburg Female College. Classes were held in this home until after the Civil War. The home was used as a boarding facility and residence. Students who were attending Millersburg Military Institue would rent rooms from past homeowners.

The last boarder was approximately 2006. The home is currently a private family dwelling and owned by a nice family who has been attempting to restore the property to former glory.
