Swarkestone Lakes is a former gravel pit, now the home of Swarkestone Sailing Club. Alongside the lake runs the Medieval Causeway through the floodplain of the river trent, and carries the A 514 down to Stanton By Bridge. The Lake has been used for sailing since 1970.
