Chasewater is a large reservoir with several walking + cycling tracks as well as a steam railway.

The Cannock reservoir (now known as Chasewater) was constructed in 1799 and was opened around about 1800 to supply the Wyrley & Essington main line canal with water via the Anglesey branch canal. The area was rich in coal and in the forth coming years coal mines began to fill the skyline. Because of this it was decided to upgrade the Anglesey branch or Ogley feeder canal to navigable standards. This would help speed up the transportation of the coal from the colleries to the W & E main line.

Recently taken over by Lichfield District Council it is improving, has an Innovation Centre ( with the UKs first grass roof ) and hosts several fairs and fetes each year.
