The church is located in the historic center of Bettona (PG).
Built by Benedictine monks in the early thirteenth century to preserve the body of the first bishop and martyr of Umbria, the patron saint of Bettona.
The façade was designed by the Roman architect Antonio Stefanucci, a student of Vanvitelli, who ran a general renovation of the building in the years 1795-97.
The primitive Romanesque style retains the pointed bell tower.
In the left transept is a cycle of paintings by thirty-six works depicting the legend of St. Crispolto.
