3-story Greek-revival residential building originally completed in 1848 as two separate structures. The earliest commercial tenants were a grocer, Eureka Lubricating Oil, and Henry Tewes' restaurant. The two properties were combined in 1880 with an altered ground floor with cast-iron storefront piers. In 1939 the upper floors were renovated as apartments. From 1976 to 1980, the building housed the Ramrod, a popular gay denim/ leather bar.

The building is clad in beige-painted brick with stone lintels and sills and a molded and dentiled brick cornice on the West Street facade. There is a fire escape on the Weehawken Street facade.
