Wisteria Island, also known as Christmas Tree Island, is a Federally-owned, man-made, and uninhabited island. People from the nearby sailboat anchorage would often camp out here.

  • Wisteria is a dumping ground for derelicts. The owners propose a public access managed mooring field. NIMBY's want to keep it the way it is as a haven for criminals and illegal dumping.
  • Concerned has a point, but there are also self-imposed caretakers. Dream weaver used to "disappear" old abandoned campsites, cleaning them up. Juan, whom lived in a Teepee there used to make breakfast for all who needed it, and would play the bongos to summon the hungry. Yes, there were some unsavory types as well, but not all who dwell there are suspect. I support a legal mooring ground that would be maintained by the city. The anchorage there is soupy sand, and the derelict vessels should be removed.
  • Federal gov't took over the island.
