Formerly the home of KD's Smokehouse, a facility built in the late 2000s. In early 2013, Slovacek's began construction on a flagship Exxon gas station/convenience store that incorporated most of the original building, which opened late winter 2013, it opened. While it doesn't make the sausage there (that's in Snook), it does have kolaches, frozen yogurt, and an expanded convenience store selection. It certainly helps the economy (a third of the town was decimated in that fertilizer plant explosion, and it is a destination type store designed to bring in I-35 travelers) and brings more gas pumps (three stations were lost just north of here due to the freeway widening)
