The M47 Patton was an American main battle tank, a development of the M46 Patton mounting an updated turret, and was in turn further developed as the M48 Patton.
This tank is equipped with a 90 millimeter gun with fume extractor, optical range finder and ballistic computer. This was an interim measure for the M48 tank. The M47 was exported in large numbers and this particular M47 tank was a NATO loan to Italy.
