Karlštejn is a market town in Beroun District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 900 inhabitants. It is known for the Karlštejn Castle. Village and ancient castle built for King Charles IV.

It's rumoured that he laid the first stone of the Castle, hence the word Karlstejn (Karl=Charles, Stejn=Stone)
