Part of a four-station rearward troposcatter communications chain from the Lady Franklin Point DEW Line site to Hay River, the Port Radium Site was a relay station for phone communications between Snare Rapids and Lady Franklin Point. The RCAF operated the site until 1975 when it was transferred to Canadian National Telecommunications (CNT) before closing in 1981. It looks to have now been demolished.
