10 Hudson Square

USA / New Jersey / Hoboken / Varick Street, 160
 office building, 1929_construction

175-foot, 12-story office building completed in 1929 as a warehouse. Designed by Victor Mayper, it has a rusticated stone base, with the two floors above also clad in stone. The upper floors are clad in buff-colored brick.

The facade has large window groupings - five bays on the north facade, ten on the west, and seven on the south - and the top floor is slightly recesssed, except for at the center of the Varick Street side, and at each corner, where there are pedimented roof parapets. The building was renovated in 1983, and again in 2012, creating a striking new triple entrance and attended marble lobby. It is home to WNYC and its on-street broadcasting studio. The ground floor is also occupied by the Jerome L. Greene Performance Space, and Hudson Square Market.
