This specific AAA complex was build in line of the church towers of Wijhe en Olst. It was anticipated that in the situation of an inundation, the weirs in the IJssel had to be protected against the attack of Soviet bomber aircraft, that used the flying route at the extension of the line Wijhe-Olst. To target these bomber aircraft, an AAA complex was build with three positions of AA guns of the type Bofors 40 L70 40mm guns.
In the conceiled personel bunker was room for 28 soldiers: 9 for each AA guns and the commanding officer. The ammunition was stored in another bunker, close to the dike.
