The Kropholler Kerkdorp, or church village, was commissioned by the famous "traditionalist" architect, Alexander Jacobus Kropholler for the Roman Catholic Church (Diocese of Rotterdam). The entire complex facing the Berkenbosch Blokstraat, is comprised of seven houses (3,5,7,11,13,15,17); a chapel (9A), housing a scale replica of the Lourdes Grotto, a rectory building (9) and a tower footing (9A main entrance to the chapel) The Berkenbosch Blokstraat portion of the complex was initially begun in 1912. Construction was completed in 1919. It is a registered as a Dutch national landmark.

  • The Lourdes Grotto Silent Centrum,located in the RC OLV van Lourdes Chapel, is open daily form 9am-6pm. Mass is held regularly and the Catholic community comes together on Saturdays to pray the rosary. Please contact the French speaking "Tous les Saints" parish in The Hague or the "Kerk Berichten" in the weekly edition of the "Scheveningse Courant" for specific dates and times.
