The only bridge of its type in Moscow, this steel chain suspension bridge was completed on 1 May 1938 as part of Stalin's reconstruction of Moscow. Legend says that among the hundreds and thousands of rivets in the chain suspending this bridge, there is one solid gold rivet. The roadway deck is 24 meters wide with a 5-meter pedestrian walkway on either side.

It is called the Crimean Bridge because the river here is shallow and the Crimean Tartar hordes used to ford the river at this point when invading Moscow.

from here you can see lot many artists selling their paintings (riverside road)
from here you can see a ship made up of iron(?) in the river ( a monument)

  • The bridge was completed on 1 May 1938 as part of Stalin's reconstruction of Moscow. Legend says that among the hundreds and thousands of rivets in the chain suspending this bridge, there is one solid gold rivet. The roadway deck is 24 meters wide with a 5-meter pedestrian walkway on either side. The Moskva River is shallow here so near this point area it was easier to cross the river. It was been known as the Crimean ford for centuries since in this area the Crimean Tatars used to cross the river on horseback to raid the city. The first bridge on this site was a wooden pontoon bridge built in 1786 and called the Nikolskiy Bridge. This was rebuilt as a fixed wooden causeway with a central span for boat traffic. Floods and ice damaged the wooden bridge requiring numerous repairs until 1873 when a steel bridge was constructed.
