6-story Romanesque-revival (with modern elements) church building originally completed in 1891. Designed by Renwick, Aspinwall & Russell as a factory. In 1921 it was acquired by the Christian Scientists and in 1966 the church gave it its current virtually windowless Modernist facade of orange brick, designed by Victor Christ-Janer & Associates.

In 2008, the building's original Romanesque features were restored, with three large bays of segmental-arched windows on the second floor, three grand 3-story arched window bays reaching to the fifth floor, and smaller arched windows on the top floor, as well as a new metal roof cornice. The windows of the 3rd and 4th floors are angled to project out and have modern-looking metal spandrels and casements.
