The front is a fully Palladian elevation, of the sort more usually encountered in more prominent street locations rather than, as here, hidden away down a passage. Map evidence shows that this house originally formed part of a row linking Chatham Row and Gibbs's Court (qqv), and that it did originally face onto Walcot Street prior to being hidden by later infilling of the forecourt.
