Former site of the Johnson Cottages, a historic block of rental cottages operated by John W. and Hanna M. Johnson.
Began in the 1870s as a (detached) house. The Johnsons expanded it into a block of rental cottages in the early 1880s.
It was demolished in the 1900s.
Before moving here, the Johnsons operated an earlier boarding house called the "White House", located on the east side of Manitou, near what is now East Fountain Place.
