town, train station, grain elevator / grain silos
The site of the former community Wauponsee Station. This town had about 100 residents, a train depot, and a grain elevator.
The town began to vacate when the Big Four Railway abandoned its tracks from here to Kankakee. The tracks changed ownership to the Chicago, Rock Island, and Pacific. When the Elevator was abandoned and dismantled along with the tracks the town became no more.
