Memory Park (Kharkiv)

Ukraine / Kharkivska / Kharkiv / vulytsia Akademika Pavlova, 129-131

Until 2007 – Komsomolskyi Park.
In the past, there was a Jewish cemetery on the site of this park. According to the old residents, the remains were not reburied.

In the early 2000s, specialists conducted a number of examinations, thanks to which at least 6 mass burials were discovered.

It turned out that more than 6,000 victims of political repressions of the 1930s were buried on the site of the park. The bodies of political prisoners executed by the soviet regime were probably laid to rest here.
Children's remains were also found. Most likely, these children became victims of the Holodomor genocide of 1932–1933.

Based on this information, the name of the park was changed from the Komsomolskyi Park to the Memory Park, and the monument to the victims of political repressions was erected there.
