This is a development of modern studio houses, built in 1974 by the owner of the land, Julian Trevelyan, designed by architect Michael Patrick for use by artists specifically. This is a condition for those who want to live in St Peter's Wharf and there have been several notable srtists including Hugh Cronyn, Prunella Clough, Bernard Myers and Barbara Brown.
The development replaced an earlier wood yard, Shepherd's, destroyed in a fire in the 1960s.
