Offering superb views all over London, One Tree Hill was once a beacon point where news of the Armada's destruction was signalled to the City some 7 miles away. On this hill is the Honour Oak (or at least an oak replanted in the 1900s to commemerate the original tree) so called because Queen Elizabeth the First fell asleep under it and was not disturbed, hence her "Honour" was respected. The Honour Oak gave its name to the surrounding area.
