"சென்னையிலுள்ள சேப்பாக்கம் துடுப்பாட்ட அரங்கம் (எம். ஏ. சிதம்பரம் கிரிக்கெட் அரங்கம்) 1916 ஆம் ஆண்டு கட்டப்பட்டது. இதற்கு இந்தியத் துடுப்பாட்டக் கட்டுப்பாடு வாரியத்தின் முன்னாள் முதல்வர் எம்.ஏ. சிதம்பரம் அவர்களின் பெயர் சூட்டப்பட்டுள்ளது. சுமார் 50,000 பேர் அமரக்கூடிய இந்த அரங்கில் 1934 ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் தேர்வுப் போட்டி நடை பெற்றது.
இங்குதான் இந்தியா டெஸ்ட் போட்டிகளில் முதல் வெற்றியை 1952 ஆம் ஆண்டு இங்கிலாந்துக்கு எதிராகப் பெற்றது...."

  • this is the home ground for the Tamil Nadu Ranji team and the IPL team CHENNAI SUPERKINGS.The crowd here is acknowledged to be a very knowledgeable one and is famous for the standing ovation it gave to the visiting Pakistani team that won the match in the Idependence cup in 1999 and for Saeed Anwar scoring the highest ODI score of 194. The visiting team was so happy and did a victory lap. The then Pakistan coach Javed Miandad thanked the crowd by telling "Salaam Chennai".
