The Arsenal (Wroclaw)

Poland / Dolnoslaskie / Wroclaw / ul. Antoniego Cieszyńskiego, 9
 museum, 16th century construction

Wroclaw Arsenal, (also known as Mikolajski because of its proximity to the Mikolajska Gate), is one of the most appealing pieces of Wroclaw's urban architecture. Its raw exterior is quite deceptive - upon entering the building the interior captivates one with its unique carpentry constructions and the yard is further enhanced with addition of two turrets. The yard is one of the most picturesque sites in the city and is frequently used as a performing stage by theater and music groups (i.e. The Festival of Chamber Music). In front of the Eastern wing, which serves as the main entrance, visitors can observe a brick lawn frame, that used to be the base of an 18th century annex building belonging to a rifle manufacturer.
