The southern part of the Domplatte is called Roncalliplatz, and connects the Domkloster with the road Am Hof (Old North). It was named for Pope John XXIII (1881 - 1963), whose real name was Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli. He was beatified on 03/09/2000 by Pope John Paul II..
