In this area, before the docks were built there was an important well. According to archelogical excavations before the docks it had a number of graves were arranged in an a rosetta formation around it. It has long been suspected that it may have been some ancient burial site that was on the sandy hedland that used to be here before the docks. Unfortunately, during the 19th century industry was far more important and the building of the docks all but obliterated the archeology on the site. According to on amateur archeologist in the area the floor of the well, with steps leading into what was water, are still there. I cannot conform this as the docks are now out of bounds and public access is denied.
