Church of Saint Anna (Florianopolis)

Brazil / Santa Catarina / Florianypolis / Florianopolis / Avenida Antônio Borges dos Santos

The Church of Saint Anna was built in 1772. The local fisherman who's specialisation was whale hunting and whale oil production were the main investors of the construction. They always attended the mass before the fishing. After the mass priests went down to the beach to bless fishermen boats.
There is nothing remained from the original building of Saint Anna church. The church was rebuilt at the first time in 1838 and in 1948 the original facade was totally reconstructed.
