The church was built in 1750, when de the first portuguese imigrants came to Brazil.
It was visited by the brazilian emperor, D. Pedro II twice, by the time he donate some crow pieces and the two bells that still are in there.
The church was consecrated as a sanctuary, because of your importance and cultural relevance to people. It is now called The Lagoon's Holy Mother of the Immaculate Conception Sanctuary, the only one dedicated in Lagoa da Conceição.
