Opened on 31 August 2003, Maharajalela Monorail Station (also known as Stadium Monorail Station) is an elevated monorail station that forms a part of the Kuala Lumpur Monorail Line. The station is named after Dato' Maharajalela (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lela_Pandak_Lam), a Malay nationalist and a folk hero, due to his substantial contribution and seen to be a symbol of the Malay resistance against British colonialism. Dato' Maharajalela was sentenced to death by hanging on 20 January 1877 in Taiping after found guilty for the murder of J.W.W. Birch, the British Resident of Perak.
