Bandar Jasin Bestari ( Jasin Smart City ) is a proposed new central township for Jasin District led by Customary Land Corporation (PERTAM). The proposal is to move the center of Jasin Town into a new area, which is suitable for a redevelopment of the new town center for Jasin District. Currently, Jasin's Old Town is not very suitable to become the center of the district because the area is quite dense and future development seems to be impossible. In order to develop, this district needs space for new residential and business areas to grow. The location of Bandar Jasin Bestari is very convenient as it is situated at the main road between Melaka Town and Jasin Old Town. The 25 minute drive to the Jasin Tolls of the PLUS Highway and 20 minutes to the Ayer Keroh Toll make the new city accessible from the major highway. Bandar Jasin Bestari (Jasin Smart City), contains residential areas, business center, shopping complex (Mydin) commence business on 29 March 2013, a University (likely), school, recreational areas and petrol stations.
