The State of Malacca (Melaka in Malay) covers an area of 1,650-sq.km. or 1.3 percent of the whole area of Malaysia. The state is divided into 3 districts that is Central (314 sq. km.), Alor Gajah (660 sq. km.) and Jasin (676 sq. km). It has a total population of 733,000 according to 2007 estimate.

The State's capital is Malacca Town (Bandar Melaka in Malay).

  • The state with rich of history in Malaysia. Founded by Paremeswara(from Acheh Sumatera Indonesia) in 1400. Malacca is the name from a tree while Parameswara taking rest under of this name " Melaka " migrated from Sumatera. With a port to a many ship and merchant from Arab,India,China and south America its become the busiest port of Strait of Malacca during the era. Rules by several generation of head of state name of " Sultan ". 1511 it fell to the hand of the Portuguese followed by Dutch 1641 after fierce battle. 1795 Malacca was given to British From 1826 onwards it was ruled by English East India Company in Culcutta together with Singapore and Penang under Strait Settlement Administration. After World War 2 Anti colonial sentiment in the country among nationalist, the result of which proclamation of independence of Malaysia in 1948 ended the ruled by British in Malaysia. Todays....Malacca become a tourist attraction around the world to see the building still remain from the colonial and sigh seeing the history of Malacca. With nice hotels,resort and beaches Malacca is consider the best place too for relaxing and enjoyable for vacations.
