The Devil's Pool is a famous naturally formed feature, near the edge of the falls on Livingstone Island on the Zambian side. The wide, swift-flowing river has scooped out a shallow pool at the very lip of the cataract and left a low rock barrier known as the Devil's Armchair, allowing adventurous swimmers to splash around in relative safety a few feet from the point where the water cascades over the falls.
