In the beginning, after the displacement in 1964, it was used as an intermediate school for girls and until the school buildings were completed in New Halfa
Since the year 1966/67 it was (the middle district for boys) then it changed with the educational ladder to general secondary and then to high secondary
The school is attached to it (boarding houses) for students and teachers accommodation
