Church of North India

Built in 1836 by Colonel James Skinner (born in 1778; son of a Scottish army officer and his Rajput wife) as a promise, as he lay wounded on a battlefield, that he would build a church if he survived. Design of church probably given by army engineers. On the north is the Skinner family's burial ground. At the rear, the Tomb of Thomas Metcalfe, who lived in Delhi for fourty years (1813 to 1853), during which time he served as Agent and Commissioner.
