  • Located at the rear of the Mexuar, this oratory was restored in 1917, after being in a very damaged state due to the explosion of a powder magazine in 1590 at the "Darro" valley. The front wall had four small balconies, with twined arches and small windows. The oratory is orientated to the Mecca and from here the Albayzin is contemplated. The "mihrab" (on the right), richly decorated, has a horseshoe arch with voussoirs, and presents several inscriptions that make reference to commands of the Koran, as well as praises to Mohamed V. We can read: “Come to pray. Don’t be one of the negligent people.” A good Muslim must pray five times a day.
