The Ross Island Wind Farm supplies supplemental power to both Scott Base (New Zealand) and McMurdo Station (US). It is located between the two bases near the southern tip of Ross Island in Antarctica. It consists of 3 Enercon E33/330 (330-kW) wind turbines with a combined nominal capacity of 0.99 MW and went into full operation in January 2010, providing at that time roughly 11 percent of the power used by the two bases.
