Kankradi Bridge (Dahanu)

The Kanradi railway and road bridge. The railway brige is at a higher level than the road bridge. Road bridge goes under water when the rains are very heavy. The bridges are built over a creek which flows into the sea a few kilometers ahead. The bridge is located over the road leading out of Dahanu to Golvad and Bordi and exits from Irani Road in Dahanu. At the exit it has a very sharp bend that is difficult for heavy vehicles to navigate.

Around the late 70's, early 80's a busload of people had drowned at this location , when a bus tried to cross the road bridge which was under water. Road railings were absent and the bridge was at a lower height then. A couple of feet have been added to the height of the road bridge since then.

Many a times kids also jump into the creek here since the flow of water is very slow. There have been a few deaths at this location, by drowning.
