After an evening appearance in Biloxi, Mississippi on June 28, 1967, Jane Mansfield, her lover and attorney Sam Brody, their driver, Ronnie Harrison and three of her children set out for New Orleans, where Mansfield was scheduled to appear for an early-morning television interview. On June 29 at approximately 02:25, on U.S. Highway 90, east of the Rigolets Bridge, the car, a 1966 Buick Electra 225, crashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer. The car struck the rear of the trailer and went under it. The three adults in the front seat were killed instantly; the children, in the rear, survived with minor injuries.

  • Correction of location of crash site ( see http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/15756 ). Directions states that it's , "East of New Orleans. On the north side of US Hwy 90/Chef Menteur Hwy, either two miles east of the bridge at Fort Macomb, or seven miles west of the bridge at Fort Pike (Slidell). Look for the white cross; it's just west of the "Zone 2" sign heading west, or "Zone 3" sign heading east". After observing the Streetview of Google Map , I was able to come across the prominent white cross off the north side of Hwy 90 near the "zone 2 and 3" signs.
