city is all set to get its first synthetic athletic track.
The state government had planned the project in sprawling 65 acres land at Mankapur in West Nagpur. Bhoomipuja for the project was performed in 2001, estimated to cost was Rs 12 crore then. The project was supposed to be completed in 18 months, but remained incomplete as on date. Now, the project's cost has reportedly escalated to around Rs 40 crore.

It is one of the bigest stadium in Nagpur. Sad story of this project is as follows
1. Bhumi Pujan: 2001 (estimated cost Rs.16 crore & time 18 months)
2.till 2009-2010: Rs.24 crore spent due to delay in receipt of funds from Maharashtra Government.Only indoor stadium completed now expenditure expected to rise up to Rs.50 crore.
